Jon Runyan, a South Jersey native, became a cornerstone of the Philadelphia Eagles’ success during his nine seasons as the team’s right offensive tackle from 2000 to 2008. A key free agent acquisition, he helped transform the franchise into a perennial contender, contributing to seven playoff appearances, five division titles, five conference championship games, and a Super Bowl XXXIX appearance. Known for his durability and toughness, Runyan started every game during his Eagles tenure, including playoffs, and ranks second in franchise history with 144 consecutive starts. A 2002 Pro Bowl selection and 2005 team MVP as voted by his teammates, he earned widespread respect across the league, famously described by Michael Strahan as the toughest opponent he ever faced. Beyond his playing career, Runyan has continued to impact the game as the NFL’s Vice President of Policy and Rules Administration since 2016, while also serving in the U.S. House of Representatives for New Jersey’s 3rd district from 2011 to 2015. A dedicated community advocate, he has supported numerous charitable organizations throughout the South Jersey and Philadelphia region. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame in 2021.
