Johnny Gaudreau, a South Jersey native from Salem, emerged as one of the most electrifying American hockey players of his generation. He first gained national attention leading the Dubuque Fighting Saints to a Clark Cup championship in 2011, earning USHL Rookie of the Year honors. Gaudreau went on to star at Boston College, where he became one of the most decorated players in program history, winning a national championship in 2012 and the Hobey Baker Award in 2014 as college hockey’s top player. Over three seasons, he totaled 175 points in 119 games, showcasing his elite skill and playmaking ability.
Drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2011, he built a standout NHL career with both Calgary and the Columbus Blue Jackets, recording over 750 career points and earning seven All-Star selections along the way. Known for his speed, creativity, and sportsmanship, he also captured the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 2017 and represented Team USA on the international stage, including at the World Junior Championships. His impact on the sport has been recognized with induction into the New Jersey High School Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
