A Drexel Hill native and Sun Valley High School graduate, she emerged as one of the region’s top middle-distance runners, winning a Pennsylvania state championship in the 800 meters as a senior. She competed collegiately at the University of Florida before finishing her career at Villanova, where she was a member of the 1987 NCAA Indoor Championship team and earned All-American honors in 1988. That same year, she helped set two world records as part of relay teams in the 4×800 and distance medley. Following her collegiate career, she remained a national and international force, ranking among the top 10 in the U.S. in the 1500 meters six times and expanding into the 5000 meters, where she won a national championship in 1995 and was ranked No. 1 in the world in the 3000 meters.
Since 2000, she has served as Villanova’s head coach for women’s track and cross country, building one of the nation’s premier programs with multiple national championships, 17 Big East titles, and dozens of All-Americans and Olympians under her guidance. Her lasting impact on the sport has been recognized with induction into multiple halls of fame, including the Villanova Varsity Club Hall of Fame, Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, and Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame.
